Competitive Edge Research, founded in 1987, is an opinion research company that serves the country. Company CERC offers best-in-class service for its diverse clientele. These include survey research and focus groups. It also includes dial-testing, grassroots lobbying, voter contact, and dial-testing. Focus groups held at CERC are commonly known as group interviews. They are used to investigate topics of concern among consumers, voters, stakeholders, or members of an organization. Focus groups offer the most effective way to get the thoughts and feelings of the people who care most about a topic. CERC Focus groups are not as accurate as quantitative research. However, when used in conjunction with quantitative studies, they vastly improve the results. The primary goal is to get all information related to a problem or issue "on the table" so that messages may be created. Competitive Edge manages every aspect of the Focus Group process unless the client wishes to perform its moderation. The first step is to establish the study goals and guidelines. We create the discussion guide together with our client to ensure that group discussions are framed in a way that does not bias their participants (Focus group services, n.d.). Competitive Edge also creates a screening process to exclude individuals who are not qualified to participate. We select San Diego County's residents using our database and randomize them to avoid the "professional participant" problem. We use the quasi-randomized sampling design, in which data is collected from a relatively small group. Competitive Edge has a modern focus group room at its headquarters, which offers the client remote or onsite access to high-resolution audio and video. We manage the entire process from refreshments for clients to bringing the participants to the room consultation. Participants are selected strictly from the random database and are appointed for the discussion session. Currently, due to covid-19 restrictions, the company consults with the moderator and client electronically.
