Fat Plants San Diego was created in 2009 and later developed into a small business by two friends. The women met at a plant club and made a bet to see who could grow a better Aloe polyphylla. For years, they would visit each other's houses every weekend to see the latest botanical discovery. The women discovered new nurseries and drove over 500,000 km in search of rare species. Their hobby was a hit, and soon their small greenhouses were overwhelmed with plant life.
Suddenly, in 2013, they realized that their gorgeous gardens were now fully grown and unique, yet few saw them. They had a colorful and diverse group of succulents in the garden and lining the fences. Their walls were filled with colorful orbs, wreaths, and birdcages (filled with succulents). Larger succulents cascaded down the fences and walls of their green, jungle-like garden. A 12-foot palm with dangling tendrils of succulents covered the succulents. The ladies created a paradise, and a neighbour asked how much a succulent-filled birdcage would cost. The women giggled at each other. They went to the nearby plant store and Fat Plants San Diego was born.
We can now ship to America from our nursery in San Diego. Thank you for your support this far.
