Mee Shim hails from Suwon in South Korea. She lives in San Diego, California, where she practices the art on a full-time basis. Mee Shim received formal art education from different renowned institutions. Before her formal education, Shim had a solo show at Samsung Gallery in Seoul in 1997. During the early days of her career, she took three painting classes at Lee Jung-Ji's studio. Shim graduated from the BFA program at Duksung Women's University Seoul- Shim. She earned a master of fine arts degree from Wayne State University, Michigan shortly. Additionally, Shim is a professional artist.
