ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) was founded in 1978 with the leadership of Florence Johnson, founding principal, and Ole Kittleson (project resource teacher), and it began as a school within the campus of Roosevelt Middle School. After a court order, SCPA, one of the initial magnet schools for voluntary San Diego Unified School District integration, held its first classes. SCPA began operations with one administrator, 17 teachers, and one counselor. The inaugural student body was made up of 180 fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. An additional 46 seventh-graders joined the school during the spring semester. The 8th grade was added the subsequent year, and this class was the first SCPA graduating class. In 1982, SCPA moved to a new venue, the former Mabel E. O'Farrell site in Southeast San Diego, and was known as the O'Farrell School of Creative and Performing Arts. The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts is a college-preparatory institution specializing in the arts for high-achieving learners from the sixth through twelfth grade. Students at SCPA are ambitious and engaged and can take advantage of the school's excellent arts education, encouragement, guidance. They also need to juggle the academic and artistic demands of a seven-hour day. Students will be expected to complete a college-preparatory curriculum and an arts course to graduate from SCPA. Learners will need to show that they are prepared for conservatory research in the arts and can reason critically from a perspective sufficiently advanced to engage them in the world's creative industries.

SUMMARY   Reviews Summary

The reviews highlight that the majority of students, parents, and graduates consider the school to be an artistic gem and one of the best places to learn, using words like "amazing" and "awesome." It is evident that many students feel accepted and belong within the school community, with positive comments about the supportive and inclusive environment. There are testimonials while the students and teachers' close relationship is evident with sweet and caring comments about certain teachers. The school dances and plays are according to the student tommy tantalizing. The academic quality of this school is commendable, and such a learning resource. Just like the parents and students liked, the reviews also showed that the school was safe and the children can learn efficiently. The other school didn't provide an excellent environment for the students as they used some as a punching bag. This school helps develop their artistrytalents. The most of the students says that it is okay as they have a lot of fun....datum, critics are lacking, and so this review really praises the school.
