Lourdes. We would love to know more about you and your journey. Can you share about your life and how you started and where you are now? My name is Maria, I am 36 years old, and I am a Latina woman. I married my true love and have two daughters, one is 5 years old, and the other is 18 years old. However, despite being a mother, I always sought out challenging projects and assignments. At 18, I migrated to Tijuana for three years to study at the Centro de Ensenanza Montessori. After I graduated, I moved to San Diego and started working at Rancho Santa Fe Montessori School as a toddler assistant. I learned a lot from my colleagues, who taught me a lot. The collaborative team made my work experience memorable. Despite the hard times, I enjoyed working with children and the potential to change children's lives. After three years as a toddler assistant, I wanted more. I obtained a job as the Head Teacher of a school group, but this school closed after two years. I was devastated, disappointed, and almost giving up on my dreams. This experience would change and transform my life forever. I nearly quit. However, I proposed to myself to make a decision: keep things as they are or move to another place and start fresh. Or I could take the risk of venturing into my own business. This opportunity motivated me to step out and do something. At 26, I left employment to run my business. I established the Lulu’s Montessori Bilingual Education School to offer quality education and childcare. This school aims to promote a child’s early growth and development. Our focus is Spanish, and it is integrated and reflected in all our activities.
