Mission Hall opened in September 2014, and it is the first building of its kind at UCSF. It was built as the Activity-Based Workplace, a radically different way of working. The original Activity-Based Workplace was redesigned to become a hybrid open-plan architectural model. The building expands from these crucial components.
Open space, well-defined, lets users select lighting and visibility for their tasks.
Shared spaces support privacy, meeting rooms, conference rooms, collaboration sites, and community zones.
Each person uses dedicated work tables.

Level 1: Front desk, Cafeteria, Conference Rooms, Study Hub, 24-hour cafeteria; no workstations or offices
Floors 2 to 7: secured floors are used by specific Departments/Divisions; contain Workstations, Offices, Focus Rooms, Huddle Rooms, and Conference Rooms
