BPS, Inc. was established in 1982, and Charlie Bennett was the first backflow assembly tester accredited by California-Nevada Section (CA-NV AWWA). He remains unswerving in his commitment to the vocation and dedication to his clients. Charlie valued his customers above all else. He spent a lot of time educating them, understanding where they were coming from, and making sure they got it. Charlie unexpectedly passed away in 2003, at which point his son Ben and wife Teena took over the business. Ben took over the company after appreciating the need to protect the water quality of the San Francisco Bay Area and the public. He began working with regulatory authorities and local programmers to improve programs; BPS now helps regulatory agencies administer backflow prevention programs by writing regulations, certifying testers, examining programs, and drafting programmatic rules and guidelines. Ben is the chair of CA-NV AWWA Section Committee on Specialist Certification and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification.
