Classical Ballet Academy: Our Culture Classical Ballet Academy (CBA), founded by the visionary director Elizabeth Shipiatsky, provides Colorado's best classical ballet instruction. The Vaganova Method offers CBA students the foundation to develop a strong classical technique and a high level of artistry. Our highly qualified faculty are dedicated Vaganova instructors trained to teach the Vaganova curriculum. CBA trains dancers in classical technique, pointe, Pas de Deux, Character, and Contemporary dance. CBA serves all levels of dancers, from beginner to professional, offering a comprehensive ballet program. We also have a sister company, Ballet Melange, where opportunities abound for dancers to perform throughout the year to start a professional dance career. CBA Dance Culture The development of artistry and artful stage presentation through performance is the goal of dance training. Experience on stage is an essential part of a dancer's education to achieve successful artistry. CBA requires all of its students to watch and consider participating in performances. Every CBA Student Level has the opportunity to participate and audition in two different ballet productions each year. The Nutcracker, a well-loved holiday classic, is performed each winter. The spring shows include full-length classic ballets such as Giselle and Cipollino. The Ballet "Cipollino" is based on a famous Russian children's book with a special choreography. Additionally, our Academy Students perform in the Spring Show, a showcase of their progress and hard work throughout the year as they perform excerpts from various classical ballets.
