About this business

David Cook Galleries offer historic paintings, drawings, and prints from Colorado and New Mexico. It features traditional, plein-air, modernist, abstract, and contemporary works. Original, vintage, museum-quality antique Native American Indian art is offered by David Cook Fine American Art. Textiles, including Navajo blankets, define this gallery. The collection spans from the classical period up to the trading post era. David Cook Galleries opened American Painting in 2001. John F. Carlson and the Broadmoor Academy artists were the first to see the paintings in the new galleries. The gallery is the acknowledged authority on the work of Broadmoor Academy artists. Birger Sandzen's paintings are especially well-represented. Broadmoor paintings are a speciality. This consists of early Colorado paintings by Charles Partridge Adams and 20th-century artists like Vance Kirkland. Members of Denver Artists Guild, and Fifteen Colorado Artists. Since then, New Mexico art has been added to the collections. This includes examples from the Taos Founders, Santa Fe Art Colony, and potentially important Western and early California plein air paintings. They also have American modernist work. Consultations are available for all kinds of collections, from private to corporate. Our expert collectors may need help in culling or enhancing their collections. We also love introducing novice collectors to the possibilities of building a collection that reflects their tastes and lives. Our clients are our most important asset. We value our long-term relationships with them. Since 1979, the Gallery has been operating. We understand that collectors' tastes and lifestyles may change. If it's not right, we'll help you find the right replacement. When you make a purchase, we offer generous swap and resale options for all items bought from the gallery.

Reviews Summary

This art gallery, including its collection and staff service, receives fantastic reviews overall: most people think it is a wonderful place to visit, particularly Linda, the gallery director. About the art, some people appreciate its diversity, historical context, and quality and compare it to the finest museum pieces. The rockies' artists impress one user, who also reveled in the gallery's affordable art. However, another contends that some pieces seem overly simplistic. Most artists were Colorado-based, with some having only one painting. Many reviewers highly recommend this place when visiting the Denver area, with some considering it the best art collection in the city. This is a must-see for fans of Rocky Mountain art.
