About this business
Founded in 1960 by a few parents from the Colorado Women's College Nursery School, our school has many different names, affiliations, and locations. We were assisted to start at Montview Presbyterian Church by Mrs. Kim Randolph. In 1962, our preschool began to grow. Parents from South Denver founded the University Park Cooperative Nursery School. In 1964, the preschool divided once more. Montview Community Preschool remained at the church, but Medical Center Cooperative Nursery School moved to the corner of Cherry and 8th Streets. After that, Denver Cooperative Preschool was created in 1966. The school moved to its current location in 1983. Denver's 60-year history of excellence in early childhood education is something we think about and appreciate.
At Denver Cooperative Preschool, we are play-based and parent-cooperative. Play is an essential, fundamental, and natural aspect of childhood. It provokes joy, curiosity, wonder, and delight. Play-based thinking acknowledges that all children partake in and enjoy play. As parents and teachers, our role is to provide a loving and secure environment for children to learn and be creative.
Reviews Summary
DCP has numerous enthusiastic reviews praising it as a one-of-a-kind, welcoming community different from most. With the children and parents cared for and appreciated, it makes home away from home for the kids. Thanks to an approach that lets children do what they love within the framework of learning, emotional and social developments are quite noticeable. As shown by the testimonials, children in each age group seem to have a great time, and they are always happy going there. Because developmental Community Preschool recently moved to a new building, some people like the new space, while most say that the old one was nice. This transition was also a great chance for some kids to join the school and the program that others in the community had. Most of the reviewers recommend the preschool as a great place for other parents looking for schools for the young ones.
We are so lucky to have found DCP. It's provided such an incredible community for both our son and for us as parents (which is hard to find). You really feel part of something here.
The staff of educators are so unbelievably kind and dedicated to the children's development. Our son absolutely loves going to see Ms. Liz, Ms. Abbie & Ms. Michaela every day. He's also become so close with the other kids in his class. His development has taken off like we could not have imagined.
They moved to a new (beautiful) facility and had some space open up, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get in! Very thankful they did.
