Larks Preschool

Introducing early childhood wisdom to the West Wash Park community since 2004, Larks Preschool is our passion and gift to the community. The school's language-rich, play-based philosophy is a reflection of the ways we understand early childhood education. It is based on principles from Italy's Reggio-Emilia. Children learn and grow through play. They become more engaged with their environment. Through self-expression and play in an environment that is safe and stimulating, children develop intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Our main objective is to create an environment where children feel good about themselves, are respected for their uniqueness, and are supported in their emotional, creative, and social development. We assist each child in discovering the world and developing their unique strengths and abilities. Larks' play-based philosophy is rooted in our ideas and inspirations for children's education. Young kids learn about the world and themselves by using play (in and out of the classroom). We utilize principles from Reggio Emilia, emphasizing communication, documentation, and setting the child up to succeed. However, in the school, Larks encourage children to play freely and explore their potential strengths.
