In 1979, Lauren and Bill Plage founded Picture This, Inc. in Madison, CT. The Plages began by opening an art gallery and framing shop in Madison. As the company expanded, the Plages established a commercial division in Westport, CT to serve the design and corporate communities. The commercial division quickly outgrew its small space as it served an ever-wider range of corporate, hospitality, and healthcare clients. Wanting to grow into Hartford, the Plages bought Hartford Framing Company in 1991 which had been in Hartford since the1900s. The company’s name was changed to Hartford Fine Art & Framing to reflect the merger of Picture This with Hartford Framing, highlighting the company’s ability to provide fine art in addition to fine art and services. The company’s large physical location and history of working with both corporate and residential clients have made it a well-regarded member of the art and art design community in the Northeast region.
