Dr. Sean Christensen, MD, Ph.D. has dedicated his practice to dermatologic surgery since 2013 after completing his Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology (ACGME) fellowship at Yale. His referral-based practice includes all aspects of skin cancer management, including Mohs Surgery treatment, early-stage melanoma surgery, and reconstruction, and higher-complexity cases. This includes managing aggressive or advanced non-melanoma cancers, prevention solutions for highly susceptible patients, and management of cancerization fields. He has resources for numerous diagnoses and educational opportunities. He is the Director of Resident Training in Dermatologic Surgery, Associate Director for ACGME Mohs Surgery Fellowship and Cutaneous Oncology at Yale, and Director of Dermatologic Surgery, Yale Dermatology Branford. His research encompasses all areas of dermatologic surgery. The main area is defining the molecular changes and genetic mutations that occur in the skin before the development of cancer and how they can be targeted to reduce skin cancer risk. Some of his research funding includes optimising field treatment strategies. He is a nationally recognised author and speaker on field cancerization, with numerous publications and talks. He also runs a phase-III clinical trial as the principal investigator on a new topical treatment for basal cell carcinoma.
