Barnes & Cohen was my second choice in getting a law firm. they were my first choice, but I was a back passenger in the auto accident I was in, so it really wasn't up to me I felt.. but, honestly I'm glad that I didn't choose after that. The other passengers chose them. we all got the same attorney. our accident was in October of 2021. I demanded to settle my case in August if 2022, because it seemed like every time I called my attorney, she either would t answer, lied about not getting my messages on her voicemail or from the front desk. Then when she would answer, it was like I was reminding her to do her job. she would say, "oh yea! I do have to check in that!" Then, she told them the adjuster had 30 days legally to respond. it took the adjuster about 6 months to respond and her excuse was that they kept changing ging the adjuster to my case. so, when he finally answered her in February of 2023, she wanted to keep going higher and higher on my settlement pay and that took another few months. it is now may of 2023 and I finally just told her to just settle on whatever number I was at the time. in the beginning of my case, she promised all of us a 5 figure settlement after fees. come to find out, I got no where near a 5 figure settlement. I signed the receipt oaoaers for my number she came up with and she says they have 30 days or less legally to write a check and get it to her. I asked her, today (2 weeks after I signed the receipt) if their were any new news on the check I was receiving. she said, oh it should be a few more weeks. mind you it had been 2 weeks already out of the 30 period that they had to answer. I asked her if they were probably going to take over 30 days, again to actually get the check. she says, " I hope not " as if she KNOWS that that it would probably take longer than 30 days. But, I've also heard that they do things like that to keep your money in a bank to collect interest, so that they can make more money. She drags her feet so much. so, I've been basically waiting 2 years since the accident, just to get the small amount that I am getting. I think it's ridiculous that it takes more than 30 days, just to write a check in the amount that I was getting. They never call me, I'm the only one to always call her and she never has any answers for me 85% of the time.. I'm just over this company and I'd never recommend this place to ANYONE.. Especially my attorney that I was assigned here. Barnes & Cohen is a law firm I'll never use, ever again.
