The presence of Michael Sr. and his family, including his wife Shalane and children Kiara and Michael Coates Jr. strengthened the growth of the shop and the company’s customers. Eventually, Michael Sr. relocated his family to Jacksonville nine years later. Michael Sr. Jr. struggled to determine his journey to start a business in the “Bold New City of the South.” Michael Sr.’s background is not only in the automotive body and paint business but also in specialized paint work. Michael Sr. used his shared history with his father and the loyal work of his employees to find work in the local industry. The business also took advantage of the hard-hitting recession to grow and employ people in the Jacksonville area. Midway Paint & Body has eight employees who have a wealth of experience in collision repair and bodywork, having worked in the industry for over 60 years.
