North Florida Archers, established in 1988, was initially founded as a center for Morale Welfare and Recreation for US Government employees. North Florida Archers was founded in 1992 when the property was reportedly handed over to officials from the Department of Agriculture. However, in 1992, the facility was handed back and is under civilian administration and control. The club became North Florida Archers. In 2000, the 45-acre facility was added to the City of Jacksonville's park system. North Florida Archers is a non-profit organization that aims to bring people together with their families and animals. The club teaches safety and respect for wildlife. It also teaches other beneficial things to the human race, such as bowhunting essentials, safety, ethical hunting, wildlife ecology, and other beneficial things for humanity. The club offers facilities for both compound and traditional archers. The club is run by honorable members. The North Florida Archery Range is located within Tillie K. Fowler National Park on 45 acres of wooded land. The club has a covered range that can accommodate targets at distances up to 70 feet, with the range capable of reaching 100 yards. Additionally, the facility boasts wooded shooting trails with 3D targets. NFA facilities can be used by members from 7:00am to dark, seven days a week. Access to the facility is organized by keys so members can come and go as they please. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other youth organizations are encouraged to visit and try archery. Coaching is offered to teach the sport, focusing on safety.
