I have been painting since childhood, and my journey started in India. I experimented and practised with everything from fabric to wood to glass. This helped me learn new techniques. In my teenage years, I moved to the United States. I completed my bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago. There was a brief break from painting, but after my son was born in 2008, I reconnected with my passion and was inspired to pursue it professionally. This time I chose to learn from Donna Dewberry, who is recognized for her One Stroke Technique. She showed me how to blend and highlight with three brushes. I also learned how to use one brush with one stroke. This technique was so appealing to me that I opened my studio to teach it and help others. I became a One Stroke instructor in 2010. Starting from that point, I taught this painting style. I had become a fan of Donna Dewberry’s One Stroke Technique and had recently become certified as an Elite Instructor (this title requires completing levels 1 and 2 in the technique). I realized my childhood dream by opening my studio. On February 14, 2016, the Prachee Arts & Studio (Jacksonville FL) was opened. I teach acrylic techniques with One Stroke, which I learned as a child, to children as young as three years. Now I teach faux stained glass and fabric painting. I provide quilling, scrapboard art, canvas, quilling, and scratchboard. Classes are available in my studio or your home, as well. Prachee Arts is currently a vendor in the afterschool enrichment programme, which is still part of our studio.
