Akiho Tanaka, PhD, LLC

Dr. Akiho Tanaka, Ph.D., LLC, was awarded her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2011. She is currently a licensed psychologist in Florida. She has gained prior expertise at numerous clinical settings including universities counselling services, VA women’s hospital, multi-disciplinary nursing homes, and community mental health. Her enthusiasm for group psychotherapy has been rewarded by her receiving the Susanne Jensen Scholarship, which allowed her to attend the American Group Psychotherapy Association’s (AGPA) 2013 annual meeting. In addition, Georgia Southern University's Groups Coordinator is where she worked. As a youth, she has always wanted to work as a Clinical Psychology psychologist. She decided to join this field because she was so moved by people suffering from pain due to her empathy. It is her biggest satisfaction to assist them in her role.
