Eckerd College

Our vision is to help students discover their hidden potentials, become more confident, more imaginative, and even more critical thinkers. In our four-year course, students are introduced to our singular approach: discovery and mentorship, small classes, faculty-mentors, and community service. Located along a mile-long stretch of coastline, our campus boasts white-sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. Eckerd College represents a vibrant liberal arts and sciences community. We believe in changing lives, and this philosophy has earned us a reputation among the 40 Colleges that Change Lives. We acknowledge that our institution is not a perfect fit for every student. However, for some, this intersection of discovery and mentorship can be life-changing. Our signature approach begins on our seaside campus atop a peninsula where Tampa Bay meets the Gulf of Mexico. The campus once belonged to the Tocobaga. The campus is full of native wildlife and plants, thanks to our sustainability efforts, and there are four Seminole chickees at the core of the campus. The Seminole Tribe of Florida built them, and they can be used to teach outdoor classes or study.
