Saint Leo University: Florida's First Catholic University We are proud and honored to be the state of Florida's first Catholic university, founded in 1889. Our university offers more than 14,000 students from the 50 US states and three other U.S. Territories. We also enroll students from over 100 other countries. Saint Leo University is also well-known for serving America's armed forces. It is America's top provider of higher education for the U.S military, and we are proud of that.
