Neighborhood Ballet's mission, led by Rebecca Crawford Harman, is to foster a love of dance and nurture it within each student. Our roles as art educators carry significant responsibility. We prize exactitude and technical prowess, but we understand that the children we teach will eventually become the subsequent generation of dancers and educators, as well as politicians, patrons, parents, and neighborhood leaders and citizens. As art instructors, we can shape our future by instilling in our students the importance of arts. Rebecca earned a scholarship to the Kirov Academy of Ballet, the Atlanta Ballet, and the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre. Rebecca danced professionally with the Miami City Ballet and the American Repertory Ballet. Rebecca is not only a dancer. She is a history enthusiast with a B.A. Rebecca has a B.A. She enjoys collecting vintage clothing and antiques. In 2019, Rebecca studied under Swami Jaya Devi Bagavati at Kashi Ashram. Grant Park is her favorite area. She and Steven live there with their three children. Rebecca is passionate about sharing the classical heritage with students, the neighborhood, and Neighborhood Ballet. She weaves light, positivity, and gratitude into the Neighborhood Ballet dance curriculum.
