Queen Emma Ballet (QEB) was founded in 1989 by co-directors Eve Walstrum and Suzanne Rowland. Regular faculty John Rampage, Minou Lallemand, and Alyssa Schenfeld are joined by Jose Silva, Denise Chong, Anna Motteler, and Alyssa Chong. Bruce Marks, former Boston Ballet director, and Finis Jhung, a renowned New York City Master Teacher, and Lawrence Rhodes Director of Juilliard Dance Division, have been guest teachers. QEB offers students a strong foundation in classical ballet technique and is enhanced by modern artists in a supportive and inspirational atmosphere that encourages growth and appreciation for art and a lifelong passion for dance. Our extensive expertise in early ballet technique and the one-on-one attention given to every student to maximize their physical and artistic potential and commitment to providing opportunities for students to share that knowledge with world-renowned and innovative choreographers in Hawaii and beyond all aim to ensure these outcomes. Queen Emma Ballet's choreography is a blend of classic and modern, designed to challenge our dancers' physical and artistic abilities. The Paliku Theater, Kapiolani Community College, Hawaii's only two-year college, hosts our two-yearly productions. Students have many opportunities to grow and improve. QEB is distinguished by small class sizes (8-16 students) and the personal attention of a certified instructor.
