Dr. Gautam holds the title of Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. At the University of Illinois at Chicago, she completed her fellowship in child/adolescent psychotherapy. Additionally, she is board-certified in adult psychiatry. She had also completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University. Before her American training, Dr. Gautam was trained extensively in India in psychiatry and worked as a consultant psychiatrist. Since 2006, she has worked in psychiatry. Dr. Gautam is a firm believer that children can have their lives changed by timely intervention. She has a three pronged approach: medications + psychotherapy + holistic interventions (supplements, working on gut microbiome, breathing exercises, meditation/mindfulness) when appropriate for the child and family.
