About this business

Recent Customer Testimonials at Merrick Animal Hospital Review 1: "Merrick did my kitty wrong! I wish I could monitor and approve my reviews, so they can stop trying to write fake ones on my behalf. As of today, they're still trying to write about my daughter's great trip with her dog! 1. So I'm reading these reviews, and they are legitimately making me feel even sadder. I began bringing my precious 18 yr old kitty here religiously, first for solencia injections, then fluids, injections for nausea, appetite stimulant, x-rays, as she went through treatment for kidney failure. I was also giving her thyroid meds. She continued to lose weight, and no one was addressing this, just giving her fluids and bringing her out to me. Until I actually had to ask them last Friday; doesn't she need new blood work? Look at her. So they did, and then call to tell me she needs to go to an ER for IV flush. I was conflicted, but took her Sunday morning. She was walking and sniffing around exam room. But by Monday afternoon, I went back and she couldn't even stand up, and they're telling me a list of issues. My daughter and I sat with her for an hour, and now she's gone. And I owe $3100. This shouldn't have happened to her or me. I thought they cared about my Georgie Girl, and we weren't given the proper care. I also bought a brand new bag of fluids that was only used a couple times. I wouldn't be writing this, but I called Monday morning and canceled her upcoming appointments and expressed my concerns about her treatment. And after all that, I never received another word from the doctor or anyone else, at least expressing their sadness at my loss, or what treatment plan they were using with my girl. So now, on top of my incredible sadness, from reading these other reviews, I feel they didn't give my girl the same care, and she spent her last day in this traumatic place, when I'm assuming Merrick knew this wasn't going to help her." Review 2: "Dr. Horowitz, Dr. Lihosit, and the staff at Merrick Animal Hospital are amazing! One of our senior kitties has just started palliative care for what is likely to be a life-ending illness. Dr. Horowitz has done a fabulous job of doing just enough testing to understand the severity of our cat's condition, without going overboard and recommending tests and interventions that are inappropriate given the cat's baseline health status. He explained his findings very clearly and proposed a treatment plan that will hopefully give the cat some good days yet ahead, while acknowledging that we probably don't have a lot of time left with him. I really appreciate that engagement and honesty. Too many vets these days push you to do extensive and expensive testing without considering an animal's overall condition, offering treatments that can make an animal's remaining time stressful and miserable, their caregivers sad and regretful, and the owner's bank account fa…
