About this business

Chicago's top brick and mortar outfitter. Our store has everything you need for camping, kayaking, hiking, and biking. Why Backcountry Enjoy living and working at 9000ft surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains. Shop needs for the various adventures that the area offers (backpacking, mountain biking, skiing, etc.). A local can spend lunchtime road biking on twisty roads, mountain biking down miles of IMBA-rated trails, or skiing endless laps of powder all within 5 minutes of the office. Park City locals are vibrant, with concerts in the park throughout the summer and the Sundance film festival during the winter. We also have some of the best restaurants of anywhere I have been. Just 30 minutes away, Salt Lake City offers a more urban feel. Utah is known for its snowfall, which is great, but living above 7000ft allows you to also enjoy the fall colors of the aspens, the cool spring mornings, and the warm summer nights. Anybody who likes the outdoors will love it here. It changes every 3 or 4 months.

Reviews Summary

Backcountry store reviews are overwhelmingly positive. The inventory stands out, including high-quality products and a variety, and many customers appreciate the excellent customer service. Many store employees received rave reviews, and the most commonly recognized are Chris, Joe, and Elias. This includes assistance in adapting bindings to skis, navigating purchases or returns, technical repairs, and guidance on fitting and selecting the right gear for customers. Many clients are both locals excited to have Backcountry in Chicago and out-of-towners who cannot wait to see more. An exception is that the shop has limited staff available; nevertheless, the positive comments mostly mention this praised staff member's eagerness to offer useful guidance and even going out of their way to help consumers get the particular Backcountry product they need. This customer service praises the mobile cycle station and the service altogether, displayed in the mobile station's superior customer service and products for a regular tech-shop service post like ski or snowboard service.
