He completed high school and went on to the prestigious Gemological Institute of America, earning a degree in Jewelry Manufacturing Arts and Diamond Grading. After graduation, Scott worked at the family-owned Schaumburg jewelry store, where he discovered how a business works. Scott purchased the 1918-era jewelry store at 1125 West Bryn Mawr Avenue when he was 25. Scott and Jill opened Bryn Mawr Jewelry Co. as a retail operation in 2004.
