Le Ballet Petit (LBP) School of Dance launched in 1954, allowing all dancers of any ability to perform and take classes. For more than 60 years, Kitty LaPointe, a Ravenswood Manor mother and professional dancer, administered to kids close to Ravenswood Manor in her basement. LBP gives children ages 3 - 6 full theatrical dance presentations twice a year. This locally based company has a firm foundation in its genesis in a Ravenswood Manor basement years ago. LBP combines the classical ballet with dance education and something for everyone who wants to dance, leap, turn or perform. All have a part to play, grow, and experience. LBP connects the Ravenwood Manor community with history, allowing children of all levels to dance. With the beginning of individual children, LBP evolved into an exciting and vibrant dance education for all ages. LBP's core belief is that anyone can dance, perform and be ready for the stage. In addition to the high quality of dance classes, LBP features two full-length "semi-professional" ballets with very high production value. LBP students can choose to perform in The Nutcracker in December and other full-length ballet every spring, such as Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty (2 shows). LBP welcomes anyone to audition no matter their skill level or body type, and everyoneg gets a role in the performances. They also rotate in their roles and grow up on stage every year.
