We volunteer, donate, and offer experiences for our community. Coffee for All! In the beginning, a company is only as strong as its leadership. Legend has it that Jeff and Tony, the father-son founding duo, entered an espresso competition. They got excited, then found themselves gulping shots at a roaster booth. The love for coffee got them to purchase a 12kg roaster on-the-spot. Little did Jeff & Tony know that their lives would change. They are linguists and philosophers! Their collective passion for science fiction and fantasy stories inspired the Metropolis vision. Jeff and Tony traveled to Chicago and decided that Chicago needed a creative, modern coffee brand. They opened a roastery and coffee shop. This ambition came to life in a small auto garage in downtown Chicago. They have recently opened an 18,000 square feet roasting operation along the North Branch Chicago River. Jeff and Tony still manage the original Edgewater Cafe, so don't hesitate to stop by!
