RSI’s Objectives A mission to improve court alternatives to resolution has an impact on access to justice and access to justice. Imagine if everyone seeking to resolve their conflicts through the courts had access to fair, timely, and just procedures and outcomes. To make the world more receptive to all conflict resolution options, RSI has the following core principles of work. Information is key If courts have reliable data on their ADR programs and other approaches, they can better utilize ADR. ADR programs must undergo regular maintenance, review, and improvement These programs are not self-contained and need to be maintained. ADR should not be seen as a barrier to justice ADR Court programs seek to enhance the justice experience for parties, not to prolong or increase costs. The court should ensure that parties referred out of the litigation pathway receive a genuine justice experience. Provenance: This is a foundational principle of RSI’s attempts to make the process open to all those who seek it. ADR is not a universal cure The overarching goal of RSI’s work is to make options for resolution available to everyone. The court has to change its processes so that ADR can be used more effectively, and it has to do it by possibly integrating it within the existing judicial ecosystem.
