Ellis Marsalis Center for Music is the Musicians' Village hub. It is a 17000 square foot facility for performances, community events, and education. The center has a 170-seat concert hall, teaching and recording studios, and a meeting area for the public. The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in New Orleans' 9th Ward leverages music to foster a regenerative community and serves children, youth, and musicians in marginalized communities plagued by poverty and injustice. Children and youth can grow musically, academically, and socially, and local musicians can perform and record and advance their careers in a nurturing and safe community. The center also supports community resources and advocates for cultural retention.

The school reviews are a mixture of current and former students and parents, all of which are generally favorable. The vast majority of reviewers comment on their kids' or their own progess in music because of the nurturing surroundings, skilled teachers, varied curriculum, and supportive staff. They also stress the program's welcoming and supportive environment, emphasizing the depth of consideration and experience that the teachers provide to every student. Many parents express their children's satisfaction and passion about the program and discuss the excellent concerts and performances that the students put on. The students echo this sentiment, praising the teachers' enthusiasm and commitment, as well as the likability of their peers. This community's support and friendliness are evident in many reviews, which is critical since time management and being willing to ask for and accept help are key to thriving as a non-traditional student. Many people also comment on the particular nature of their peers, parents, and instructors as essential to their education. Minority stress is another common and emblematic of the level of social support present among teachers and other school staff. This review of student and parental feedback on one of the programs reveals abundant resources and diverse types of assistance at the children and their parents' disposal. This is not only because of the available resources that the children and their parents have but also because they reinforce the value of diversity in learning environments over time, as represented by the supportive and inclusive learning that children experience in the schools. Often times, your classmates become your family, and this sentiment is true here.
