Massey's Outfitters Nola

Massey's Outfitters Nola was founded in 1972 by Darrell Massey and Larry Massey. From the beginning at the original store in Metairie, they offered a varied range of sports, including team sports, adventurous sports, and non-team competitive sports (running and swimming) as well as amateurs, college athletes, and professionals. They also did business as a retailer for the general public and as a distributorship for growing companies like Nike, with all brands catagorized together. Massey's was the first store to sell hardgoods, skis & boots, in 1985. Then, in 1985, they opened their first ski shop and began offering ski lessons for the first time. They were even able to simulate skiing on a deck of indoor skis. The first ski boots sold at Massey's were Salomon SX80 boots. Today, Massey's original location in Metairie is closed while a new one opens in an area with better visibility near Lakeside Mall, a mile from the old location. The area primarily focuses on winter resorts, summer vacations, and lifestyle.
