About this business

The Plein-Air Art Academy is a small but specialized art studio. Children aged 4+ and above are encouraged to explore art classes that help them better appreciate and connect with their environment. Adult one-day workshops are also available. We aim to help Boston's art students better understand the world around them through our full-service art school. Studio techniques and outdoor sessions are scheduled for each class, weather permitting. Mini art history lectures are given during the first class. Each week, the acquired knowledge is tested. Each class, students are given a new constructive exercise that they can execute using materials such as clay, watercolor, tempera, or collage. These techniques are stressed over time. They become more familiar and develop stronger imagination. The last 15-20 minutes are spent on a free drawing activity every class. If they look tired or fed up with the session, we introduce another exercise to replace the first.
