Fortress Studios LLC

Fortress Studios LLC is an art center based in the Northend area of Detroit. Established in 2010, the studios were created by Steven Kuypers and Steven McShane. Fortress Studios' mission is to provide low-cost living accommodations and studio space for practicing artists. They offer a place for artists to live and work in their specific fields. They also provide public art and outreach programs. Monthly Studio members can use both their studio and shop. All beginners will be given a short orientation and may be supervised based on experience level and the tools they use. Training may require additional fees. Resident artists are required to donate to communal areas, either by running a store or maintaining the building, using their specialized knowledge and skills.
