Swift Service is a super poor excuse for a moving company! Do NOT book these scammers! Several weeks prior to my move I schedule with Swift and was was asked about the sq footage of 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment, approximately how many boxes I would have and to provide a list of furniture, which is totally understandable. Upon providing that information I did let the sales person know that I have not started packing yet and I am not able to provide a specific box count however it is a fully furnished home no large appliances and I was told that it did not really matter as they charge by the time spent on the move anyway. Base on the information provided, an estimate of based 5 hours with 3 men was provided. To prepare for the movers arrival, we moved the majority of the items that needed to be moved to the living/dining area of the home to make things easier for the movers.
On the day of my move 3 young men arrive and immediately start saying the move is going to more than the the 5 hours booked and began taking video footage to send back to their office to let them know we were over the "box count". The office then calls me about and hour and a half later to let me know the booking would have to doubled to 10 hours instead of the estimated 5 hours. In response I let her know that most of the items had already been cleared out and were being loaded so I
Am not sure why the time would be double... plus we were moving our things into a storage unit located less than 5 minutes from the apartment, so unloading would be much quicker. The rep continued to push and attempt to force me into signing an updated contract for way more money... this conversation lasted for damn near the duration of the move. On top of that, once the movers hit a total of 48 boxes, they refused to load anymore because we hit our max box count apparently.... I advised that when I booked them I was told the box count wouldn't matter but he advised that was incorrect and they go by box count to decide on the size of the uhaul they need to book. So at this point we still have about 20-25 more small to medium boxes that they refuse to touch. So we go back and forth arguing that point as well. However while all the back and fort is taking place in regard to increasing time to 10 hours and box quotas, to make matters even worse... in the reservation booking I let them know that 2 beds would need to disassembled however when the mover begins to
disassemble the bed he lets me know he has NO tools... i then have to scramble and look around a fully packed home for tools which thankfully I was able to locate but this took about 30 minutes to resolve while 2 of the 3 movers just hung out. Then as the 2 movers are taking the bed apart I offer water Or Gatorade, both agreed to have a water which I hand out to them and then less than 5 minutes later, I find one one the movers rummaging through my refrigerator for the Gatorade without even asking my permission...Super unprofessional! By the time this occurs I end up negotiating 7 hrs with the office but at about 3.5 to 4 hours which shortly after the he movers let me know that the 20in truck from uhaul was full and they could load anymore which I found was untrue after looking and I also noticed the truck was poorly loaded. So I let the movers know I agreed to 7 hours with the office, so would they make a second trip to complete the job.
Long story short... after 5.5 hours (nowhere near the 10) and they're done loading the storage unit, they leave us with about 20-25 boxes in addition to items that WERE actually on the inventory list previously provided such as TVs, desks, large bookshelf, coffee table, end tables, computer monitors, and bar cart. So we had to find another set of movers at the last minute for our remaining items. I was promptly told no by the movers and was told they don't do second trips. The whole ordeal was aggravating, annoying, unprofessional, and confusing.
