Gainsburg Studio & Gallery

Sharon Gainsburg works with a blend of abstract and realism. The careful conversation that the sculptor has with each stone as she carves it discloses the message of each one alone. Sharon, born in Philadelphia, lived in New Jersey for many years. She transformed her studio and home on the coast, where she was a very active member of the arts community. After working with wood, plaster, metal, and clay, Sharon realized that she could best express her creativity through stone carving. Her curiosity about the history of great sculptures led her to Italy, where she worked near Michelangelo's marble quarries. Sharon is inspired by Renaissance art and explores her abstract concepts, emotions, and philosophies through stone carving.
