Buffalo Inner-City Ballet Co

Established in 1972, the Buffalo Inner-City Ballet Company, Inc. (BICB) functions as an alternative recreational activity to the street gangs for youths of inner cities who are mostly African American men. The mission of BICB is to provide dance education and cultural promotion through both dance performances and dance instruction. BICB is unique in Western New York because it offers two functions under its auspices. The BICB Training School is a Modern and Contemporary African Dance program using the syllabus for the Russian Vaganova Method of Dance. The students here are primarily minority children living in Buffalo's inner city. These young dancers then take part in local performances by Buffalo City Ballet. The Buffalo City Ballet (BCB) brings together the talent of pre-professional dancers, guest artists, and aspiring students at the Buffalo City Ballet Training School. BCB has entertained theatergoers in Western New York for more than 44 years. They offer a wide range of classical ballets and contemporary pieces.
