The Festival School of Ballet was established in 1987 by Clare Fetto, Keith Carcich, and their daughter. They had performed and taught in Western New York for over a decade when they decided to found a ballet school in Buffalo. The Festival provides an alternative to jazz and tap dance studios, where a "recital-oriented" approach to dance is apparent. Participating in the performance of one "routine" costs several hundred dollars per student. Students at the Festival are taught to audition and perform in professional shows rather than focus on an end-of-season recital. The Festival School of Ballet will teach children and adults the joy of dance. They will learn the many hours of practice in style, technique, and musicality. A professional dance program for all levels and ages is provided by Ms. Fetto & Mr. Carcich. The primary goal of the school is to create a supportive, creative, and enthusiastic atmosphere for all students. Festival School of Ballet offers an in-studio show every spring. Participation is optional, and the practices are short. All levels of the dancer can participate in this program, and it is free for the viewing audience.
