About this business

The City College of New York (CCNY) has offered New Yorkers a reasonably priced higher education for over a century. CCNY is also proud of its role as a social change leader. Located in the heart of New York City, CCNY is a place of many important 'firsts' and has seven schools and divisions. CCNY is the original college to educate the whole person and the first US documentary film program. The first US intercollegiate lacrosse match played in America, and the first US student government came from CCNY. CCNY is also known for the longest-running Alumni Association. According to the Mobility Report Card, a study of colleges based on a unique mobility index, the college ranks 1st out of 369 select public colleges in America. This index, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education, measures both accessibility and outcomes. It shows the proportion of children from families in the bottom 1/5 of the income distribution who move to the top 1/5 of the distribution. It shows the chance that a student at CCNY will be able to move up more than one income quintile. CCNY is also highly respected for its academic excellence; the Center for World University Rankings ranks it in the top 1.2% worldwide universities. In addition, CCNY has seen over 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in its eight schools and divisions. Communication, media and the arts; architecture, urban design and engineering; biomedical education and science; social science; the humanities and the arts are among the disciplines being studied at these schools and divisions, all of which have research, scholarship, and creativity that has been enriched by substantial funding. CCNY is a visionary, diverse and innovative institution shaped by New York. Reference The City College of New York. (n.d.). //www.ccny.cuny.edu/prospective/aboutccny
