At TURF Landscape Design Inc., managing partner Ziv Lavi oversees the operation and direction of the company he founded in 2003. He has been responsible for numerous designs and construction projects, including residential and commercial, federal, and municipal. Over an 8-year span, Mr. Lavi was an associate urban designer and sustainability expert at the New York City Department of City Planning. He was a member of the New York City Department of City Planning for this time. He was a part of the Mayoral Stormwater Mitigation Special Task Force, which worked with other city agencies to find innovative solutions for NYC's stormwater runoff problems. Mr. Lavi also oversaw a wide range of projects to enhance municipal open spaces in the City of New York's Office of the Chief Urban Designer. He has contributed to widely used documents such as Zoning Handbook: Guide for NYC's Zoning Resolution. PLANYC, 'a greener, greater New York', and New York City Street Design Manual. He was part of the selection committee for the Queens Plaza Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement, which cost $76 million. He also gives talks on Landscape Urbanism and Urban Revitalization. Mr. Lavi holds a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture and a master's degree in Urban Planning from The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture Urban Design & Landscape Architecture, New York. Amanda Switzer, with 20 years of design experience, brings her knowledge to Turf Landscape + Urban Design. She continues to study environmental design, restoration of native plant materials, and remediation. Amanda owned and operated Gardening Concepts, an East Hampton, NY company that specialized in residential landscapes. Many of the Hamptons' lavish homes were designed by Ms. Switzer, who used her knowledge of ecological engineering and innovative building technology. She holds a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture at The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture Urban Design & Landscape Architecture, New York. Her landscapes are routinely showcased on the Hamptons garden tours. Over the past 20 years, she has been designing landscaping for Kelly and Calvin Klein, including their homes in Palm Springs, East and South Hampton, and commercial projects on Long Island. She is also an expert in landscape architecture. Amanda has entertained fly fishing tours around Long Island, attending celebrities and lesser-known customers. Amanda is also skilled in interior design, photography, video editing, and editorial tasks.
