In 2015, Dr. Fuad Farrah retired and continues to give historical and leadership guidance in Dermatology. Dr. Fuad Faah was the Chief of Dermatology for the Upstate Medical Center in New York State until his retirement. He was also a medicine professor. Dr. Farah graduated from the American University of Beirut where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He was then given a Rockefeller Foundation Scholarship for Immunology and Dermatology in Barnes Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis. He trained there under Dr. Hermann Eisen, a renown Immunologist who was previously at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After completing his MIT training with Dr. Farah, he went back to American University of Beirut. He quickly became a prominent Professor of Dermatology and Medicine at AUB. He established the only World Health Organization Immunology Training and Research Center in the Middle East. In addition to being its director, he established a Master’s in Immunology and graduated the first group. The Lebanese Government decorated him twice for his contribution. In 1975, Dr. Farah was a visiting professor at the Institute of Clinical Immunology in Bern, Switzerland. He is considered the world authority on the parasitic disease Leishmania. In 1976, Dr. Farah became Chief of Dermatology at Upstate Medical University. His son Ramsay then took on this position. In 1980, Dr. Farah established the Farah Dermatology and Cosmetics, LLC. The son and daughter of Dr. Farah remain at Upstate Medical University, where they teach medical students and residents in internal medicine, pediatrics, and family practice. Over the years, Dr. Farah received many teaching awards from American Academy of Family Physicians and the prestigious AOA Medical Honor Society. He also won the Distinguished Service Award in 2015 from Onondaga County Medical Society. Dr Farah is a great role model for young doctors and his own physician children.
