Dike School of the Arts

Located in Cleveland Metropolitan School, the Dike School of the Arts emphasizes art education. We aim to help students focus and endure challenging times, collaborate towards a goal, and have a clear identity and understanding of how they contribute to the universe. Our students should have access to quality arts education if they are interested and talented in fine arts. Five professionals artists are part of our staff. We have partnered with the Cleveland Orchestra and Tri-C and the Music School Settlement and Cleveland Institute of Music to offer one-to-one and small group instruction. There are arts residencies that introduce students to various music and art genres. It is better for a student to first major in our school. The school has a unique learning approach for all students. Our Artists in Residence offer daily instruction to the students. Our Arts-Integrated Pre-K-3rd Grade has a comprehensive approach across all our art forms. Students in 4th-5th Grade must choose one out of two art forms, while 6th-8th Grade students get to major in one (Kish & Middlestadt, 2017). Arts education for all the school’s students is beneficial to every student. Artistic opportunities for student engagement and social emotional learning are the schools' strengths.
