The story began in 2009. We had been running cafes for six years and two cafes for several years. Our first cafe had opened in 2003, with a shoestring to success, in 2005, and the same promise. Something was missing. It was a turning point. I was sitting in our cafe, taking a break from a busy day. I saw our sign: "Today's Coffees." I thought of the label and the coffee growers. Where did they come from? Who were the growers? Our location's sign read, "All of our coffee is direct trade". It made me think about his premise and led to the foundation of this company. I believe in community. We realized that community was not our friends, family, and customers, but it extended to our farmers, coffee importers, advocacy organizations, other cafes, and roasters. We started to think that we had neglected one aspect of our community: the farmers that grew our coffees for too long. It was just the beginning of our search for the coffee growers. We were met with an increasing number of dead-ends. We were unable to get to the roots of our coffee growers. They refused to provide us with information. for example, one of the growers refused to name the countries where the coffee was grown. We found it challenging to identify the producers accountable for the coffee that they grow. After a long period of frustration and searching, we decided to take things into our hands. We started our one-line coffee business in July 2009 when we acquired our first roaster. Better coffee means different things to different people. For us, it's about flavor, quality, traceability, and sustainability. Better coffee means making sure that farmers and workers receive what they deserve. We are committed to telling the stories behind our coffees and connecting you to our farmers. This way, we match the passions of our coffee farmers with our passion for roasting. Every day, we work towards achieving this clear model for sourcing. We go to the producers as much as possible in our quest to source coffee, to monitor the farms and the people that grow, and to learn about the coffee and the people that grow it. By purchasing coffees from our and them, you are helping us to come closer to our goal. We appreciate your continued support. Think global. Buy local.

The reviews for the small local coffee shop are generally positive, with multiple reviewers praising the good customer service and great coffee, such as the maple latte and La Huaca. In addition, the company's consistent quality across multiple beverages, like their cold brew, chai latte, and iced chai latte, was highly appreciated. Consumers' enjoyment of the setting, including the welcoming and pet-friendly environment and the shop's uniqueness, were additional benefits. Some noted that the establishment was a little busy and that limited seating meant that it was challenging to work on a laptop. The only common complaint was that some people's sugar-heavy blueberry muffins, salty salted caramel latte, and comparatively high prices. In general, customers had an excellent experience and viewed this as a delightful spot to visit often.
