Unity Center for Behavioral Health opened its doors in January 2017. We are a unique collaboration between Adventist Health, Legacy Health, Kaiser Permanente, and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Our innovative approach addresses a critical gap in the provision of mental and behavioral health emergency services. Our pioneering model in Oregon guides our understanding of behavioral health and how we can better serve vulnerable people who find themselves in a mental health crisis. Our collaboration has allowed us to consolidate inpatient units and offer a more integrated approach to care that results in a more seamless treatment experience for our patients. We take a holistic, compassionate approach to mental and behavioral health emergencies. We help patients with immediate crises achieve stabilization and relief with expert care and empathy from our caring team, which includes physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, counselors, and peer mentors. Our providers meet with each patient to develop an individualized plan of care and a transition plan that can be used after their discharge from our facility.

These reviews are diverse, but the general impression of Unity Behavioral Health is one of positive change. Many patients and families say the staff are patient, caring and supportive. This appears to have a profound effect on patients, and their therapy and healing. Some reviews also thanks the facility for a safe inpatient environment, and especially for their work with children. Others specifically mention how the facility has helped them recover from depression or develop an emergency plan for a difficult future. Other than significant hospital strategies and staff, there are minor complaints about strange pizza and lost clothes. However, these are minimal compared to the positive reviews. There are also expressions of gratitude, such as one written by a patient who talked about how Unity helped them end their self harming streak. This feedback may be summarized as being about the loving, compassionate staff who have helped many patients overcome mental health problems.
