In 1982, Dr. Johnson and his wife founded the Afro-American Music Institute (AAMI) to help people realize their potential. This private foundation has helped thousands of people. Its learning program includes music from the African Diaspora. The initiative primarily serves students from African American neighborhoods. Nonetheless, children of all races are welcome. AAMI realizes its goals under the leadership of dedicated, professional instructors and board members. This program has offered high-quality services and wants young people to be active in the arts. The organization runs course programs, and we have noticed that young people who take part in them improve their self-esteem and confidence. They also develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and self-assurance.

AAMI reviews are overwhelmingly positive; parents have seen kids grown into talented musicians. The learning environment is filled with joy and knowledge. Daily jazz and gospel lessons are affordable. The best place to be if you want your child to grow musically and culturally. The monthly live jazz performances are an added advantage. Here, music is not just taught but history and how they intertwine. The pandemic has been efficiently managed with the introduction of safety measures. They've managed to maintain their standards and community throughout the years. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants their child to study music. “I’m still here, I will be coming back, can’t wait,’’ just give it a call to this place to become an AAMI member.
