ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

Gaynor’s School of Cooking opened as an extension of the popular "Peter Kumps", a New York City school. Peter Kump, with his James Beard credentials, was the founder of our culinary school. Peter’s was widely regarded as one of the best cooking schools in America. Gaynor’s offered a satellite school in Northern New Jersey after operating Peter’s school for an extended time. We owned the Peter Kumps' in NJ. We returned to Sewickley in 1994 and started another satellite school. We were not successful in purchasing the Peter Kumps Cooking Schools, and we were the ones who renamed it to SCA(PA) in recognition of Peter's death, tragically. The well-known New York school renamed itself The Institute of Culinary Education and now is a regular advertiser on the Food TV channel. We still believe that Peter's philosophy of professional cooking education is a standard at our school. We tend to have more fun than at some other schools.
