Providence Art Club, founded in 1880, aims to cultivate art appreciation. It has hosted artists and patrons meeting to create, show, and sell art. The Providence Art Club is a handsome group of many historic houses; the studios, galleries, and clubhouse occupy 11 Thomas Street. The Club has a long history of promoting visual arts in Providence, Rhode Island, through classes and public programs for members. Monthly events let you enjoy drinks and dinner, followed by entertainment or a presentation. The June Strawberry Festival showcases the culinary team's talent in the terrace garden. When the opportunity arises, gallery exhibitions may include artist talks. Gallery openings can be as social as exhibit kickoffs. Our exhibition programming prioritizes the work of our artist members. We host open exhibitions for artist members periodically and the annual open invitational. Occasionally, we might have a special exhibition where members' work will be displayed in our galleries for two to three weeks. These exhibitions are open to all.
