All I want to say is stay away! I had a checkong and saving account with them. 2 months later, I realize this is an organized fraud, not a bank. I stopped all dorect deposit and removed all major autopay. I had aboit 3 small autopay combine of about $40 a month. I deposit a fe bucks every month. October 29,2023 unfortunately I made a mistake and click on that debit card in an online acount and made $165 transaction. This debit card did not uave $165 on it as I was about to close it. I cancelled the transaction 8 minites after the transaction has been submitted. They charged me $34 overdrafr, fine. Next day, I contacted the bank, they told me they have to wait until the merchant refund, I said cool I contacted the merchant, they told me to contacr my bank because the money was not released by my bank whoch I believe knowing how long Independent bank take to process any transaction (direct deposit, payment, or anything). To date, November 14, they still maintain that claim that they relased the mobey to the merchant. The merchant spoke to them and told them the opposite, they still remain firm on their claim. I spoke to a branch manager who told me thst they will reverse the transactions and give me my money back. One emplpyee from fraud alert whom I chose not to mention told me otherwise. She think I am that stupid she try to belittle me and refused to hear me because it seems like they are not happy with people who can question their business morality. You work too hard for your money to put it in a bank that does not respect you, a bank thst uses any trick to get your money. Stay away! Spread the word, this is not a bank, this is a fraud!
For the first 35 payments towards my auto loan i-bank charged a $15.00 "convenience fee" in order to make payments using their online portal. My guess as a way to force you to open a bank account with them or mail a payment in (who in their right mind does that still we're in the damn digital age people). September 2022 the fee is no longer charged (great call on whoever made that decision). Today my intention was to pay off the rest of my loan but I wanted to see if i-bank would be willing to refund/credit a SMALL PORTION of the 35 ($525.00 total) convenience fee's that were charged. I tried chat first, response was "No" followed by a "Have a good day." Okay lets call it in and try to talk to someone, almost an identical response (are these scripts? time to hire a new writer guys...). When I request to speak to a supervisor I'm told 'There is no need, besides they'll be upset." Why in the hell would I care if my question "upsets" a supervisor? I don't give a rats ass about how they feel. I've been charged because I "chose to use the online portal". Supervisor was not upset (shocker), at least this individual was non-argumentative with me about my issue. Same end result though, not a single fee will be returned. Never again will I do business with i-bank that was clearly a mistake. Glad my loan will now be paid off and I never have to deal with this company ever again. Shameful customer service, well deserving of the 2.3 score with the vast majority scoring a whopping 1 star (insert line about how I'd do 0 stars if I could). Do your research, get loans from a place that will actually work with you and not against you. Congratulations on robbing me of $525.00 just to pay your company what I owe. Slow clap... STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!
