KHMRG as we know it today was launched in May 1994 when the Austin office of Houston intellectual property powerhouse Conley, Rose & Tayon (CRT) (now Conley Rose) opened for business. The firm very quickly gained a reputation for its highly skilled and technologically savvy patent prosecution practice. Starting with four sublet offices, the firm grew rapidly to build a broad array of clients. CRT Austin pioneered the use of significant numbers of technical advisors and patent agents – finding that for high-technology clients, the relevant technical expertise usually resided outside of the practice of law.
