El Centro was the foundational college established in 1966 and later became the flagship college of the Dallas County Community College District. Its name, "El Centro," is a reference to the central location. In being located centrally, the college can provide its enrolled students with basic education courses. These courses are transferable to four-year institutions, job career training, and continuing education in more than 50 areas. With more than 20 years worth of online education experience, El Centro continues to partner with business leaders and regional school districts to help students. This initiative also promotes economic gains by taxpayers and businesses. All campuses are still operating, and the seven individually accredited colleges were initially integrated under one college called Dallas College.

The majority of the reviews describe the college as fantastic. They emphasize that the students and staff are nice and supportive, ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable learning experience. This is acknowledged in the campus' high accessibility services rankings and the best hospitality they provide, enhanced by their location and great nursing program that is one of the most cost-effective. Additionally, alumni credit the college's wonderful campus beauty and the great management that helps new and current students. As such, all these factors culminate in the average rating all alumni give the campus always leave a positive review even on some of the social platforms. The overall conclusion, therefore, is that this school is a perfect environment in which to build one's career.
