About this business

Located in El Paso Texas, Las Americas, a nonprofit 501(c), provides low-cost and free legal services for immigrants and refugees from West Texas and New Mexico. Since 1987, Las Americas has offered humanitarian aid to over 40,000 people from 77 different countries. By this mission, the organization has offered legal representation via accredited and licensed representatives according to the Department of Justice. LAS AMERICAS IMMIGRANT ADVOCACY CENTER MISSION Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center's mission is to offer high-quality legal assistance to immigrants with low incomes and advocate for human rights. VISION We envision a nation where every immigrant has access to quality legal representation, based on justice and human right principles. HISTOLOGY Ruben Garcia (Director of Annunciation House) and Delia Gomez established Las Americas on May 1, 1987, as a response to the urgent need for a massive influx of Central Americans into El Paso. In the 1990s, Las Americas began to help children and mothers detained at the INS by offering assistance through the Justice for Women and Children Project. Las Americas began to represent immigrant battered women through the Battered Immigrant Women Project. Las Americas moved to its current location on 1500 E. Yandell Drive in July 2007. Las Americas is still one of the few legal services providers that cater to low-income immigrants in El Paso.

Reviews Summary

The reviews form a mixed collection of feedback, with the majority of them praising the agency. Almost every customer has mentioned his admiration of the customer service. Most comments exemplify the relief the clients feel when they visited the agency. One of the most touching reviews comes from a grateful immigrant customer who reports how the agency saved their family from separation. The unfavorable reviews contrast greatly with the positive feedback. However, one of the negative reviews stands out by presenting one client's agony awaiting family transition support. Since the client is achingly sick, she had very high hopes for receiving aid from the agency for ease of arrival in her new home. Overall, the agency secures a positive overall rating given its near-flawless customer service and impactful social impact. The poor rating earned here do not hold as much weight, as the majority of client experience satisfaction, and the organization continues to make significant contributions to make immigrants' lives easier.
